Swedish Massage Therapy
Swedish Massage is an excellent technique for relaxing the body and soothing the mind. It stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which raises levels of Oxytocin, the happy hormone, and promotes the rest and recovery of the body. Massage can also help to reduce pain and muscle stiffness as the act of massage encourages the flow of blood and nutrients to affected areas and aids the lymph system to work more efficiently.
Swedish Massage is a hands-on therapy and clients will be required to remove some clothing in order for the massage to take place. Clients’ privacy and dignity is protected at all times.
Oils are used on the skin, please let me know on booking if you suffer from any allergies. When working on the back and legs, some hands-free techniques may be employed to allow for a deeper pressure.
The following massage treatments take around 30 minutes at a cost of £20:
Relaxing back massage
Hand and arm
Lower leg and foot
Back and hips
Back, neck and shoulders
Upper and lower leg
Full-body massage takes around 60 minutes at a cost of £35.
Please note that some people can experience chills, fatigue, headaches or flu-like sypmtoms after massage, which may last a day or two. This is due to the release of toxins into the bloodstream during massage. The toxins are flushed out of the body by the lymphatic system and so it is essential that you drink plenty of water after the massage to aid this process. This type of side effect can be stronger if you are new to massage and some people can experience more intense side effects than others. Please let me know if you experience any discomfort.
